Dollarama Walkout

I have 1.5 hours in between my parenting duties. So I drove to a Dollarama hopefully to find something good and inexpensive. There is a nearby Nissan dealership so I decided to recharge my father's Leaf and walk five minutes in the rain to the Dollarama. I also have a $5 off $30 offer from my American Express credit card.

I have found something, along with $30 worth of gift cards. I must use the in-person cashier check out because of buying gift card. There was a person in front of me trying to unbreak her coins. So both of us waited for help.

A good five minutes later, a lady came along. She refused the person in front of me. I didn't expect that because my cashiering experience tell me cashiers constantly need to get coins from the bank. The person's request actually help reduced cashier's workload.

Anyway, my turn next. Lady scanned one out of three card and insisted to have it done in three transections. I asked for her reason, but she just reiterated. I know for a fact Dollarama's hardware allows multiple gift cards in one transaction. So I asked her to reverse it and put all three in one transaction. She refused, I walked out leaving her to deal with that one activated gift card. I didn't take anything so I am not stealing.

So now, who's the bigger assh0le? Sometimes, I need to stand up to these local bullies. As long as I am in the right, technically possible and not bothersome to front line workers. I believe my request to put all items on one receipt satisfies all three conditions, so I walk. She can fix whatever problem she created.
